Canadians have been making cheese since the early 1600s. Overtime our
nation has become known for its cheese, and today it is a proud tradition. Our
cheese is made possible by the high quality milk Canada provides from a variety
of animals often using cows, goats, buffalo or sheep.
Canada produces more
than 1050 cheeses, 291 are produced in Ontario. 41 manufacturers in Ontario
from the large Kraft Company to independent artisanal manufacturers like Fifth
Town Artisan Cheese Company. These manufacturers send their products to
different stores worldwide and supply to food trucks like ours.
A few of our favourite Canadian Cheeses are:
Blue Cheese:
Blue
cheese can be a scary cheese at first. It gets its name from its color, and its
color comes from the aging process. Blue cheese ranges in flavour from strong
to smooth and is paired well with strong flavours. Our “Buffalo Wing Sandwich” features
this unique Canadian cheese.

Cheddar Cheese:
Cheddar Cheese is not naturally orange. The orange colour
comes from food coloring. Canada has become famous for the amazing cheddar
cheese being developed. In conjunction with our quality milk, climate and soil
we are able to successfully balance the flavour against the sharpness. Our
famous “Cheesin’ It Simple Sandwich” features only Canadian Cheddar in all its
glory.
Goat Cheese:
The
light and fluffy goat cheese has been rising in popularity due to its ability
to take on new flavours. Canadian goat
cheese is often creamy, and is packaged with additional flavours added like
small fruits or herbs. Our food truck is currently offering a “Baaaah Berry
Sandwich” which features Canadian goat cheese.
